Story
This epic film follows the lives of two brothers from childhood escapades to the overcoming of adversity while pursuing their dreams. We see distinct differences in their personalities as children and watch as these traits effect their development and the choices they make. Growing up on a farm outside a small town they often tease the old bull in the meadow. They climb the fence and slowly edge their way out toward the bull. Jesse the older brother constantly wants to move further into the field. Cal, not as willing to tempt fate is reluctant but continues forward with his brother. Each time the Bull turns to chase them, they run back to the fence and just narrowly escape the angry bulls charge. One day they go a few steps too far.
As teenagers, Jesse has drifted toward a life of playing in a band, hunting and drinking with his friends. Cal, on the other hand, has devoted himself to school and is the star of his high school football team. Cal is also the lead in several plays. The brother’s still hunt together occasionally but Cal uses a bow as opposed to Jesse’s rifle. When confronted with a deer in his range, Cal is unwilling to let the arrow go. Jesse takes his shot and makes it count. We jump forward to Cal’s graduation from college. He goes back to work on the farm and is re-united with Jesse, who is in a band that tours locally. Jesse is itching to escape his small town. Cal and Jesse spend some time on the farm but Jesse eventually convinces Cal that this life is not for them. Jesse reminds Cal of his one time desire to be an actor. They decide to make the journey to the west coast to pursue their dreams. On the trip the brothers make up for years apart. Jesse is constantly getting them into trouble while Cal does his best to get them out of it. When they reach LA things go well for a short time but a robbery leaves them strapped and they slide down into the underworld. Still striving but trying to make do, they are forced to boldly tempt the forces that confront them. It is at this time that an act of fate brings the story full circle and exacerbates the ephemeral nature of life.
This film will bring you fully into the lives of the characters to a place you will not need to be coaxed. Their experiences though tragic will leave you with a feeling of security in the grand design.

The film will be reminiscent of ‘A River Runs Through It’ and ‘Indian Runner’ with its exploration of human nature and the bond of family.
